10 Easy Steps to becomme a German

Today I have to share with you a picture found on 9gag.com. These are 10 steps to Germanize yourself, written by Adam Fletscher, an Englishman living in Berlin. He is also the author of the bestseller book "How to be German in 20 easy steps".
But now, let´s take a closer look to what we have here. If you have had the chance to live in Germany you will certanly agree to most of these affirmations. Don´t you?

Is there anything else you would like to add to this list?
Maybe some curiosities like: Germans plan and book their holidays at least 6 months before. It´s something like deciding on Christmas Eve what you will do next summer!

German sounds and how to pronounce them

Well, it can be quite difficult to learn German, especially when we try to pronounce those "umlaut"
letters. Maybe you’ve already tried some tricks to pronounce German correctly, but still find it hard. Mark, at Fluentu.com means that "the main reason behind our mispronunciations is that, when we speak, we’re not used to holding our mouths as tightly shut as Germans are. If you ever watch a German speaking, you’ll notice that they barely open their mouths while speaking. There is visible tension pulling their lips to the side."

So here you are, a vido made by a native German speaker, who also teaches German as a foreign language.
Listen to the sounds and words, pause the video when needed, repeat after her.

I warmly recommend all the videos posted in Barbara´s Gfall YouTube Channel:

But don´t worry too much if your pronunciation is not perfect. The people will appreciate your efforts and mostly understand all of what you are saying. And that´s the most important thing in communication: to understand and be understood.

German Television Online

One of the best resources to learn German is watching TV.
So here you are, a set of online Channels streaming in German:

You can choose by Country (so you can choose between several languages) and Category.

It´s up to you: Travel, News, Music, Entertainment, Movies, Sport. The only drawback is though, since they are all free channels, you will probably have to go through advertising and some streams might be broken. But the overall website is great.

So keep practicing your German every day.
