Linktipp: Sing Deutsch

It is a known fact that languages are more easily memorized through rhythm and melodies.

Improve your German language skills using the lyrics of the most popular German songs that are currently trending on the German music charts, iTunes & Spotify.

Every week Sing Deutsch publishes new analysis of a popular German song adding to each post new words, verbs and verb conjugations in a way that allow German language learners to simply focus on learning the new words and grammar, download the songs to their phones and passively improve their German skills on the go!

Trending these days is "Tränen aus Kajal" a Pop song by Céline.

The song was released in 03-04-2020.

On Sing Deutsch you will find the lyrics and its translation.

I find this is an interesting approach. What about you?

Whatever your peferred genre is, whether it is Classical, HipHop or even Rock, you can find all the resources to learn it in German on the website to be able to sing along and impress your friends and family.

Linktipp: Practice with Lyrics

Hello German learners! As you may have already noticed, I like to surf through cyberspace looking for new and/or great websites that can help us learn German (there are many out there).
These days  I came across a nice one:

Lyrics Training is a great website that allows you to practice your understanding of lyrics in music videos. You simply select the song you want to listen to and Lyrics Training will upload the video and start to play the song along with subtitles.

Depening on the level you select (beginner, intermediate, advanced), there will be certain words missing from the subtitles that you have to complete yourself as the video plays. The video and subtitles automatically stop until you have completed the missing word! You don´t know or understand the word, then simply press the Tab button to go on, or Back Space to hear the line again. The program keeps a record of the words you could not understand for you to review afterwards (Vocabulary section). At the end you get a score that shows how well you have done.

There are lots of languages to choose from (not just German) and you can add your own songs to practice. So you can shoot two rabbits at once by listening to your favorite song and learning its lyrics.

Detailed description on how to use the website you will find here, posted by an English teacher.

What do you think about it as a way of learning and practicing German?

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
